Fastpitch Softball is popular in South Lake County; and the proof is in the numbers.
Last Saturday, 240 enthusiastic girls, ranging from 4-to-18 years, kicked-off the season at Hancock Park.
Hancock Park is the home of the Girls Softball League. Clermont Mayor Gail Ash threw the first pitch at Saturday’s game, after which the teams gathered around the mayor and presented her with a poster they had signed in appreciation of the city’s recent remodeling of the park with new fencing, improved ballfields and restroom renovations.
The team league is a non-profit corporation, run by volunteers, a great many of them, parents. Donating time, effort, and expertise is not only rewarding but necessary to the success of the league
