The newest all-electronic Turnpike interchange will open this Saturday, June 10 at Milepost 278 in the City of Minneola in Lake County

The Minneola Interchange is anticipated to improve traveler safety and offer traffic congestion relief for sections of State Road 50 and US 27 in Minneola and Clermont.

The Minneola Interchange is a public-private partnership between the City of Minneola, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise and Family Dynamics Land Co. LLC.

Cash will not be accepted at the all-electronic interchange. Tolls will be collected through a SunPass or EPass transponder or through TOLL-BY-PLATE. SunPass/EPass customers will pay the lowest rate. TOLL-BY-PLATE customers will pay a higher toll rate, an administrative fee and will be billed by mail.

A grand opening celebration on June 10 will include a 5K Fun Run, honoring the memory of Christa Deason, a long-time Turnpike employee who was instrumental in bringing the project to fruition. Runners and walkers will begin and end the race on the Turnpike bridge. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. and participants can register at Official remarks from dignitaries and a ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. Attendees should access the event via Fosgate Road and Hancock Road.

This is a family event and all residents of Lake County are encouraged to participate. In celebration of the opening of the newest Turnpike interchange, customer service representatives from SunPass will be on hand to activate a free SunPass Mini transponder for all grand opening attendees who open a SunPass account with a minimum of $10 in pre-paid tolls.
