The Friends of the Cooper Memorial Library will host Opera at the Library on Monday, June 26 at 1:45pm in room 108B. The Tales of Hoffmann (French: Les contes d’Hoffmann), an opéra fantastique by Jacques Offenbach will be presented.
The French libretto was written by Jules Barbier, based on three short stories by E. T. A. Hoffmann, who is the protagonist of the story. It was Offenbach’s final work, as he died a year before the premiere. This is a free program with English subtitles and we hope to enhance your knowledge and appreciation of this beautiful art form.
Light refreshments will be provided during the intermission for guests.
