Pinecrest Lakes Academy is a tuition-free public charter school. The newly constructed building, located at 14012 Old Highway 50, Minneola, will house PreK-6 grade students and plans to add 7th and 8th grades over the next two years.
In addition to the school’s S.T.E.A.M. based curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math), it will also offer a cutting-edge program called Project Lead The Way, which provides students and educators world-class curricula and teacher training to help the students obtain the in-demand, transferable skills they need to excel.
One of the faculty’s goals is to introduce students into the world of robotics, computer science, engineering and design, and modeling. “We want even the youngest of students in the pre-kindergarten program to be challenged with an enriching curriculum to help prepare them for a successful start to their school career”, says Principal Christina Alcalde. She added that the older students will have an advanced course load to include high school credits in the eighth grade.
Principal Alcalde remarked that she is thrilled and honored to have been given the opportunity to open Pinecrest Academy, Inc.’s first charter school in Lake County.
Pinecrest Academy, Inc. currently serves over 6,000 elementary, middle and high school students across 11 campuses in Miami Dade-County, Orlando, and Las Vegas. Its elementary and middle schools are ranked among the State’s highest achieving schools as measured by Florida’s Accountability System. In 2016, Pinecrest Academy, Inc. pursued and was awarded AdvancEd Corporate School System Accreditation for its proven commitment to quality and continuous improvement across all schools.
The school is still currently accepting applications for all grade levels.
