The Kiwanis Club of South Lake recently volunteered to assist the Lake County Sheriff’s Department on the Kid Connect project. Kiwanis members helped fill the backpacks with school supplies the Saturday before this event. During the event, some of the members helped distribute backpacks and dispense food to the families that were there. Other members helped with rock climbing. Several members printed pictures of the kids and families taken with Star War characters including R2D2 and Deputy Sheriffs.
According to Cathy Bateham, Club President of the Kiwanis Club of South Lake, “This was a great event to contribute to this community by providing service for our kids. Our members enjoyed being there and helping the Lake County Sheriff’s department, including Lt. Mark Stauffer who is a Kiwanis Member of our club. We also donated $600 to the project to help with the supplies.”
The Kiwanis Club of South Lake meets on Thursdays at 7:30 am at the Fairfield Inn, located at 1750 Hunt Trace Rd. Clermont. Kiwanis clubs identify needs of kids within the community and work together to fulfill those needs. Anyone interest in learning more about The Kiwanis Club of South Lake, is invited to a Thursday morning meeting.
