Stephen Franklin, a local resident, has started a facebook page called Clermont Chain of Lakes Boaters and Floaters. It’s a multi-use forum created to unite the boating community, spread awareness of issues and discuss past and upcoming events.
In a recent post, he asked the community to contact the Clermont City Council and let them know there is a real and immediate need for an adequate ramp facility. He requested those who agree should show up at the City Council meeting on December 12 at 6:30 pm to show support. Franklin believes that the meeting will be a turning point so stressed the importance of unity. “There will be objections and we need OUR voices to be louder!” said Franklin.
Everyone who believes that the boat ramp should remain open or that the facility be located in an area conducive to the growth of the community, such as the favored East Avenue “Bell” site, should email Council members and the City Manager and let them know. Franklin reiterated, “There will be objections and we need OUR voices to be louder!”
