On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshipped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. Matthew 2:11.
Woodlands Lutheran Church in Montverde is offering its 26th year of History during its annual Living Nativity on December 6th, 8th and 9th. Continuous 20-minute outdoor, walk-though tours of the greatest story ever told begin at 6:30pm; the last tour is scheduled around 9pm.
This event grows larger every year in both cast and guest attendance. With the help of the congregation and good friends at Youth With A Mission (YWAM), over 100 people have been cast to act or sing in the various scenes that depict the fore-telling, life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Another 20 volunteers will be working behind the scenes taking care of costumes, props, lighting and sound. It is expected that over 2000 people will take the tour.
Admission is always free. Guests are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to share with neighbors in need. Attending this event has become a tradition and has been known to begin the Christmas season and set the Christmas mood for many friends and neighbors. Those taking the tour are treated to pre-walk entertainment which includes hilarious skits, Christmas sing-a-longs, poignant moments, and instructions.
Guests are led by a Guide to each scene, which depicts a significant and magnificent moment in the life of Christ. Every act includes guest interaction. The market place scene includes live animals, authentic wares, and a few tasty morsels! After the tour, guests are guided to the fellowship area to enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate and few of the 6000 hand-made Christmas cookies lovingly baked by our congregation.
