Get ready for an Easter event like no other!
On Saturday, April 19, 2025, New Vision for Independence will host its 10th Annual Sensational Egg Hunt, a one-of-a-kind celebration designed for children who are blind or visually impaired—and open to children of all ages and abilities. The event will be held from 10 am to noon at New Vision’s brand-new office, located at 901 W. Main Street in Leesburg.
This fully accessible Easter celebration goes beyond the traditional egg hunt. It’s a full sensory experience that engages touch, taste, sound, smell, and movement, creating an inclusive and magical environment for all participants. From tactile egg hunts to scented surprises and temperature play, the Sensational Egg Hunt is designed to be both fun and meaningful.
“This event is all about making Easter inclusive, fun, and engaging for every child, no matter their ability,” said a New Vision representative. “We’re proud to provide an experience that celebrates diversity while bringing the community together in such a joyful way.”
Highlights of the Sensational Egg Hunt include:
-
Tactile egg hunts – where kids find eggs by touch
-
Scented surprises – sniff out Easter treats
-
Tasty goodies – because no Easter is complete without sweets
-
Movement-based activities – promoting coordination and body awareness
-
Hot and cold sensations – creatively exploring temperature
-
Beeping eggs – for an added auditory adventure
And don’t miss a visit from a very special guest—Bob the Easter Bunny’s blind brother—who will be on hand for photos, high-fives, and some egg-stra fun!
To ensure the hunt remains a sensory-focused adventure, sighted children will be asked to wear a blindfold while participating, playfully promoting empathy and understanding.
All children under 13 are welcome. Families are encouraged to register by April 14, 2025, to guarantee their child receives an Easter basket. When registering, participants can note any special accommodations needed. PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) cards will be available for non-verbal children.
This heartwarming event is made possible thanks to the support of Leesburg Kiwanis Noon and the Fruitland Park Lions Club.
