The Clermont Garden Club has selected The Cosa Nostra, an Italian Deli restaurant located on the corner of Montrose and 8th Street, to be Yard of the Month for May. The sidewalk is awash with flowers, an abundance of color cultivated by the restaurant’s owner, Thielli Lapetina. Hanging baskets of pink and red petunias (Petunia x atkinsianaor Petunia x hybrida) hang from a magnolia tree (Magnoliaceae). Colorful planters can be found on the ground amongst vibrant orange marigolds (Asteraceae) and a collection of red and white geraniums (also known as pelargoniums or storksbills). One geraniums that stands out is a beautiful white and pink variety. Basil (family Lamiaceae) is grown in a raised bed and the herb is used in the restaurant. There are more splendid plants to view.
A lot of thought and care has gone into making this a spectacular little oasis in our beautiful town.
