Donna Digennaro, Clermont Historical Society
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 22nd because the Clermont Historical Society is once again hosting its annual Heritage Day Festival from 10:00 am until 4:00 pmat Clermont’s Historic Village! The day will include the opportunity to try your hand at old time chores like woodworking, butter churning, and hand washing as well as displays on food preservation before refrigeration and frontier medicine (new & interesting). There will be good old-fashioned, non-technology driven games like jump rope & hopscotch for the young and young at heart and several local non-profit organizations that have served the area for many years will be on hand to share information on how they contribute to the community. Perennial favorites, Captains A and SySy, will once again be joining the festivities in the World War II Quonset hut.
Last year the Pastfinders organization was on hand to help those who were interested in starting their genealogical research journey and we are thrilled to announce they will be back again this year! A new addition this year is an authentic World War II Ford Jeep that will be parked right next to the Quonset hut. Its owner will be on hand to answer questions about it and other World War II vehicles.
In addition to the opportunity to sample freshly churned butter and homemade ice cream, visitors to Heritage Day will also be able to purchase a delicious lunch at a reasonable price.
Remember—Saturday, November 22nd from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Clermont Historic Village 490 West Avenue on the shores of beautiful Lake Minneola. See you there!
