The City of Clermont began its holiday festivities on Friday, December 5, in the historic downtown district with the 36th annual Light-Up Clermont celebration. This year’s theme, “Christmas of Champions,” filled the streets with live music and festive chorus performances.

City Hall Park was alive with holiday cheer as families gathered to enjoy pop-style Christmas music while awaiting the traditional lighting of the Christmas tree. Classic tunes such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer brought children onto the grassy dance floor, where they joyfully acted out the lyrics beneath a bright, beautiful full moon.

Clermont Mayor Tim Murry, joined by Olympic Champion and eight-time World Champion Noah Lyles, led the countdown to illuminate the towering Christmas tree standing proudly on the decorated grounds of City Hall Park. The moment did not disappoint—thousands of twinkling lights burst to life with the flip of a switch. The sparkling tree now complements the beautifully lit landscape extending throughout downtown and the Center Lake area.

Non-profit organizations continued beloved traditions, offering children visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the City Center and decorating the shores of Center Lake with family-friendly holiday displays. Businesses along West Montrose Street and throughout the historic district welcomed shoppers and diners, while presenting sponsor AdventHealth greeted visitors with a cheerful elf and Candyland-style Christmas trees dusted in Florida-style snow.

Historic downtown Clermont will remain festive throughout the holiday season, with decorated storefronts and specials for last-minute shoppers. Surrounding areas feature charming displays perfect for a family evening stroll or a romantic date night.

Be sure to visit the Clermont Historic Village at 490 West Avenue for a nostalgic glimpse into holiday celebrations of the past.

Center Lake, located between Eighth Street and West Avenue at Highway 50, features twenty-six illuminated displays, including old-fashioned trains, steamboats, carolers, and even Santa himself. At the center of the lake floats a massive electric Christmas tree, creating a dazzling focal point.
