The Central Florida Pediatric Therapy Foundation’s Dreamplex program will expand mobile outreach for people with disabilities after receiving a $50,000 grant from the Live Well Foundation of South Lake, the foundation announced April 15. The grant funds the “Wheels of Inclusion” project, which will acquire a multi-purpose van to transport adaptive equipment and staff to underserved residents across South Lake County.

The van will serve children, adolescents, and adults with physical, cognitive, and behavioral disabilities, removing transportation as a barrier to participation in adaptive sports, therapeutic education, and vocational training. Program leaders project a 25 percent increase in participation and a 50 percent reduction in service delivery barriers as a result of the initiative.

The project will also support more than 12 community outreach events annually, expanding awareness of available services across the county. The initiative aligns with priorities identified in the Lake County Community Health Needs Assessment, targeting social determinants of health for vulnerable populations.

The Magruder Foundation is providing additional support for the project.

“This investment reflects our ongoing commitment to building a more inclusive and accessible community,” said Susan McLean, grants committee chair for the Live Well Foundation of South Lake. “By supporting innovative solutions like Wheels of Inclusion, we are helping ensure that individuals of all abilities have the opportunity to participate, thrive, and succeed.”

The Central Florida Pediatric Therapy Foundation operates Dreamplex, which provides inclusive programming and removes barriers to services for people with disabilities and their families in the region.

Central Florida Dreamplex has launched its 2025 End-of-Year campaign, “Fuel the Future,” to support children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities through life-changing therapy, education, adaptive sports, recreation, vocational, and social programs.

This annual campaign highlights the growing need for inclusive services in Central Florida, where hundreds of families rely on the Dreamplex for specialized support that builds independence, confidence, and connection. With demand for services continuing to rise, the “Fuel the Future” campaign plays a critical role in sustaining and expanding programming across both the Clermont and Orlando locations.

Through “Fuel the Future,” donors make a direct and meaningful impact. Contributions support essential services such as:

Therapy and Education: Physical, occupational, speech, and therapeutic school programs that help individuals reach developmental milestones.

Adaptive Sports & Recreation: Basketball, hockey, soccer, water sports, cheer, fitness, and more, giving athletes of all abilities the chance to compete and participate in activities they love.

Vocational & Life Skills Training: Programs designed to prepare teens and adults for meaningful employment and greater independence.

Social Programs & Community Events: Inclusive opportunities for friendship, connection, and family-centered support throughout the year.

“For many of our families, the Dreamplex is the only place where their loved one feels fully included, accepted, and supported,” said Cameron Gomes, Chief Executive Officer. “Our donors ensure that every family is able to receive these vital services and to be a part of an inclusive community. Their generosity fuels progress, dignity, and hope.”

The Dreamplex relies on community donations to remove financial barriers and ensure every child and adult receives the care and opportunities they deserve. Every dollar given fuels programs that build brighter futures, one athlete, one student, and one family at a time.

After a thorough interview process, Shirica Gulledge has been names Director of Dreamplex Therapeutic School (DTS)

Shirica Gulledge, an accomplished and passionate educator, brings a wealth of experience to her new roles as DTS Director. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Shirica has dedicated her career to inspiring and empowering students and teachers alike.

Born and raised in small town Benton Harbor, Michigan, Shirica developed an early love for learning and teaching. She pursed her higher education at the University of Phoenix, earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.

Throughout her teaching career, Shirica has been recognized for her exceptional dedication and innovative approach to education. She has been instrumental in transforming classrooms into dynamic learning environments, where students are encouraged to think critically, collaborate, and discover their passions. Her commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity has played a pivotal role in creating safe and nurturing learning environments for all her students.

As Director, Shirica is thrilled to embark on this new chapter of her career. With her extensive experience, she is excited to lead and support a team of educators, working tirelessly to enhance the quality of education for students at Central Florida Dreamplex. Her vision aligns with that of the school and encompasses not only academic excellence, but also the holistic development of each student, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Beyond her role as educator, Shirica also advocates for teacher professional development. She firmly believes in the power of continuous learning and has facilitated workshops and meetings to empower, motivate, and encourage teachers to help them stay abreast of instructional strategies. This has not only earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and peers, but also awarded her Teacher of the Year in 2023.

With her wealth of experience, unwavering dedication, and infectious enthusiasm, Shirica Gulledge is poised to make a lasting impact as Director at Central Florida Dreamplex. She is excited to collaborate with educators, parents, and the community to shape a future where every student has an opportunity to reach their full potential.

The high school program will begin next year, so any close to aging out of their current school or those looking for an alternative to the public school system are encouraged to email info@cfldreamplex.com for more information and to take a tour.
