Rabbi Moshe Dubinksy of the South Lake Chabad welcomes the entire Jewish Community to attend and observe the annual High Holiday services. After founding Chabad South Lake here in Clermont in November 2020, they now have over 200 regular Jewish affiliates including families, children and grandparents from across Lake County.

High Holy Days: Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year holiday. It is a time for rejoicing as well as for serious introspection. It is a time to celebrate the completion of another year while taking stock of one’s life. These two days of Rosh Hashanah usher in the Ten Days of Repentance. These Ten Days of Awe culminate on the major fast day of Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement. The shofar which is a ram’s horn that sounds like a trumpet, is sounded as a special wake-up call to prepare for the Tishrei holidays. Rosh Hashanah is respected as the Day of Judgment for our Books of Life and Death; which are then sealed for us on Yom Kippur.

You may see yourself as unaffiliated, Reform, Conservative, or Orthodox. At Chabad we see you as Jewish. Here, there are no labels and no differences. Our services are always casual and easy to follow. The English-Hebrew annotated prayer book, along with song and commentary help make everyone an active participant. • Family Shofar Factory: Make your own Shofar from a genuine ram’s horn. This paid event
  •  Sunday, September 18, starting at 2 PM. Learn how to make and blow a shofar with all of the meaningful traditions.
• Rosh Hashana Dinner: This paid three-course festive meal
  • Sunday, September 25, starting at 7 PM complete with apples dipped in honey, round Challahs and other traditional and delicious High Holiday foods.

  • Wednesday, October 12 starting at 5 PM

 Upcoming Chabad Events:

Chabad South Lake now offers weekly Sabbath prayer services, Parsha with Pizza and Minyans. Shabbat Minyans start at 10 AM.

After the High Holidays, a six-week ‘Torah Study’ educational series will be offered in conjunction with the Jewish Learning Institute.

Plans are already underway for a big Hanukah Celebration to be held

• • December 18 at the Clermont Waterfront Park.
    While 300 people attended last year, they are hoping for over 500 this year.

Rabbi Dubinsky adds, “Chabad of South Lake is open to all Central Florida Jews. No membership is needed. If you are Jewish, you belong! While many of our events are free, some are pre-paid. Donations and sponsors are always welcome.”
