The Clermont High School, Hilltoppers and Highlanders, 31st Annual All Class Reunion was held at the First United Methodist Church, Wesley Center, on Saturday, April 29th in Clermont.

The reunion this year was a sellout with 300 alumni attending the annual tradition that also recognized the class of 1973’s 50-year graduation mark. The class of 1948’s Eileen Bowen was recognized as the alumni’s longest-tenured attendee at the golden age of 92. Margaret Weaver, class of 1973, Anchorage, Alaska was recognized as the farthest traveled.

The Clermont High School Scholarship committee recognized and awarded three local graduating high school seniors with scholarships this year. Recipients are selected based on several academic factors, including the requirement that they be related to former Clermont High School graduates.
High School Senior Scholarship Recipients with families
This year’s beneficiaries are Lindi Petty, a South Lake High School graduate that will be attending Lake-Sumter State College and pursuing a career in radiology. Breanna Peinne, an East Ridge High School graduate that will be attending Lake-Sumter State College and pursuing a career in physical therapy. And Allison Hager, a South Lake High School graduate that will be attending Florida International University and pursuing a career in clinical sociology. 
 
The scholarship fund has awarded thirteen $1,000.00 scholarships to deserving students since its inception.

]]> The 30th annual Clermont High School All-Class Reunion will be held on Saturday, April 30, in the Wesley Center of the First United Methodist Church of Clermont, 715 W. Juniata Street, Clermont.

Any student who attended CHS, their spouse or guests, as well as any CHS teachers and administrators are welcome. The Classes of 1970, 1971 and 1972 will be honored for their 50th anniversary.

CHS alumnus John Hotaling notes, “We already have over 200 people registered. We are on a faster pace than in previous years, so it is important that you get your registrations in now. There is a capacity limit for the venue, and there is no guarantee that we will have tickets available to purchase on the day of the event”.

The focus of the reunion is for alumni to reacquaint with other alumni. There is no scheduled speaker or entertainment. There will be a brief scholarship award, memorial video, and veteran’s acknowledgment. Three classes will be honored this year, and several groups are already planning social events before and after the reunion. 

John continues, “If you are a veteran and have a military picture, and you would like to be included in the veteran’s video, send it immediately to mdw11848@gmail.com. If you are a veteran but do not have a picture, send me an email and I will add your name to the veteran’s video to mdw11848@gmail.com.

Remember, the deadline for reservations is April 15th, 2022.  Those paying at the door are not guaranteed a seat with your class. Advanced reservations must be made to ensure you are seated with your class.

If you are planning to attend this year, send in your registrations asap to www.clermonthsalumni.org.

Registration begins on April 30 at 9:30 am, the program at 11:15 am. Come early and visit with friends and classmates. The luncheon will be served at noon. (Wesley Center has an absolute cutoff date for receiving a final tally for food).

The cost of the event is $35 per person and is non-refundable. For those choosing to pay at the door, the cost will be $40 payable in CASH only. Attire is casual.
