<p>Saturday, January 18, was a very special parkrun, not only because of the many milestones achieved but also because of the return of some very important people in the parkrun community.</p>
<p>Karen and Tim Bowler are visiting from England and participated in this weekend’s event. These two people are more than just participants in the Clermont Parkrun; in fact, they founded the event all the way back in 2013. They had to overcome strict regulations and went through a tremendous amount of planning in order to found the event that we all know and love. They had been inspired by the success of parkrun overseas, and because of their vision, they were able to set up one of the first and most successful parkrun events in the US. Without their tremendous efforts, Clermont Parkrun would not exist.</p>
<p>There were also many important milestones to celebrate. Congratulations to Anne Beninghof, who ran her 50th event this weekend. Not only has Anne shown dedication as a runner, but she is also a committed volunteer. “We can always count on Anne to be on-time, excited, and ready to help out. She is a fantastic volunteer and consistently does a great job,” said part-time run director Rissie Theiler. Another congratulation to East Ridge cross country coach Grant Mollett on finishing his 125th parkrun this Saturday. He has been bringing his high school runners out to parkrun for a few years and has made a great addition to the parkrun community. Shelly Linder from the Clermont Triathlon Club also completed her 75th event.</p>
<p>Even if you did not reach a milestone or a PR, there are still many other ways to be proud of your progress or commitment. Congratulations to every single runner on even coming out to run a 5k on the weekend with such a great attitude.</p>
<p>One-hundred and seventy-seven people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 26 were first-timers and 30 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 18 different clubs took part.</p>

<p>This weekend’s Clermont Waterfront parkrun was a breath of fresh air, literally. A whopping 67 first timers lined up at the start line at Hiawatha Park on Saturday. The newbies made up more than 30% of all total finishers, a fantastic statistic because it means that more people than ever are hearing about and participating in parkrun events. Thanks to the many runners, volunteers, and family members who continue to spread the word about parkrun Clermont. This week 195 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 11 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 32 different clubs took part.</p>
<p>William Troupe was the first place overall finisher this weekend with a time of 17:29. He was followed by first time junior Nicholas Khan who ran a 17:49 to finish close behind Troupe in second. Jeremy Arguelles rounded out a solid top 3 with a time of 17:51. All three men were able to dip under 18, making for a very speedy day.</p>
<p>Reagan Parks was the first place female finishers in a time of 21:56. This parkrun regular has been topping the podium all summer, but will be missing quite a few parkruns with the impending start of her Cross Country  Season at East Ridge. Sophia Wilson and Debbie Schwarz ran a 22:13 and 23:31, respectively, to round out the top 3 women.</p>

<p>In that time, 7,596 different people have completed 24,664 5ks. Participants have spent a combined total of 1 year, 176 days, 18 hours, 36 minutes, and 49 seconds on the course, thus proving once and for all that no one is &#8220;too slow&#8221; to participate in parkrun!</p>
<p>In the Clermont parkrun&#8217;s six short years, they have seen many lives transformed, many personal records broken (including a world record set by the fastest 12-year old ever to complete a 5k), and more lifelong friendships formed than could possibly be counted. It has gone from being the only parkrun in Florida to having two siblings, and a third on the way May 18th&#8211;the first state in the US to be home to FOUR parkruns!<span class="apple-converted-space"> </span></p>
<p>Join the run and have some fun.</p>
<p><strong>Clermont Waterfront parkrun &#8211; April 20</strong></p>
<p>What better way to kick off Easter weekend than by running a 5k. Clearly, I wasn’t the only runner who thought so. This week at the Clermont Waterfront Parkrun, we had a very impressive total of 219 participants come out to take on the beautiful course along Lake Minneola Shores. There was a whopping 74 were first timers and 36 new Personal Bests. Seems like a lot of people were motivated to break out a sweat before they break out the candy.</p>
<p>This weekend marked some noteworthy volunteer milestones. Kendall Trump volunteered for her 25th  and Anne McFarlane volunteered for her 50thparkrun. Congratulations on your accomplishment and thanks for your tremendous support of parkrun. <strong>Special recognition goes out to Rissie Thieler, who hit her 100th volunteer milestone on Saturday.</strong> She has been a long-time participant, volunteer and now part-time race director of the Clermont parkrun since it was founded over 5 years ago! She never ceases to make everyone smile with her continuous support and positivity. It is extremely respectable to run over 100 5ks, but it is even more respectable to volunteer at 100 5ks without anything in it for yourself.</p>
<p>There was a nice pack at the top of the men’s race this weekend. Junior Anthony Suarez came out on top in a new PB of 18:10. He was followed close behind by Reeves Oakman in 18:20, and then Matt Feltham in 18:24.</p>
<p>Clare Patterson finished first on the female side this weekend in a time of 21:01. Paula Williams took second place honors in 21:43, and junior Reagan Parks rounded out the top 3 with a 22:44.</p>
<p>Ann Higgins from England celebrated her 100th parkrun here in Clermont, congrats Ann!</p>
<p>The event was made possible by 16 volunteers:</p>
<p>Rissie THIELER • Kendyl CARDWELL • Sheri FRASER • Hector CLEMENTE • Josh CASTLEMAN • Anne MCFARLANE • Daniel WHITEHOUSE • Jason KOLASINSKI • Dawn PANNY • Joanne LEGROS-KELLY • Kendall TRUMP • Carrie ROEDER • Judy RICHARZ • Leigh Anna WATERS • Lynnea WEISSMAN • Paulie BLANKENSHIP</p>
<p>Today&#8217;s full results and complete event history can be found on the <a href="http://www.parkrun.us/clermontwaterfront/results/weeklyresults/?runSeqNumber=282">Clermont Waterfront parkrun Results Page</a>.</p>
<p>The female record is held by Kate BAZELEY who recorded a time of 17:17 on 20th February 2016 (event number 124), and by Ani VELTCHEVA who also recorded a time of 17:17 on 18th March 2017 (event number 173).<br />
The male record is held by Ollie GARROD who recorded a time of 15:39 on 18th August 2018 (event number 245).<br />
The Age Grade course record is held by Sabra HARVEY who recorded 102.90% (21:17) on 9th February 2019 (event number 272).</p>
<p>Clermont Waterfront parkrun started on 27th April 2013. Since then 7,596 participants have completed 24,664 parkruns covering a total distance of 123,320 km, including 3,878 new Personal Bests. A total of 345 individuals have volunteered 2,600 times.</p>
