National Wildlife Day is September 4 but the joy of watching a duck waddle across the lawn, an eagle soar, a visit from a couple of sandhill cranes is an everyday wonder and you don’t have to go far to enjoy the wildlife in South Lake.

The National Park Service cares for special places saved by the American people so that we may experience our heritage. Twenty-one states have national parks, as do the territories of American Samoa and the U.S. Virgin Islands. California has the most with nine, followed by Alaska.

There are 60 national parks across the United States and each one has unique environments to explore.  Visiting our Parks is an opportunity for everyone to step back, take a deep breath and think about all that surrounds us. It’s inspiring to consider preservation and conservation efforts that work to improve the natural world.

Patrick Delaney recently began following his dream to explore the United States. He bought and customized a sprinter van and made it his home. He recently set out to discover America.

Not everyone has the opportunity to pull up stakes, work from a van, and travel America, but everyone has the opportunity to take a few moments out of the day to appreciate the natural wonders and nature’s magic.
