Jimmy’s devoted fans, known as “Parrotheads” and younger fans “Parakeets” followed him in concert wearing Hawaiian shirts, parrot hats, and drinking beer and margaritas. A Buffett concert is a celebration of a lifestyle.

Buffett called his songs “drunken Caribbean rock n’ roll”.  He also described his musical style as “gulf and western”.

He recorded hit songs that included “Margaritaville”;  “Come Monday“; “Cheeseburgers in Paradise“; “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes; “Fins“, and “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere“. 

Buffett was also a bestselling author. He wrote three, number-one best sellers “Tales from Margaritaville”, “Where Is Joe Merchant?” and “A Pirate Looks at Fifty”.

Buffett was born on December 25, 1946, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and spent part of his childhood in Mobile and Fairhope, Alabama.

He graduated from McGill Institute for Boys, a Catholic high school in Mobile, in 1964 and received his bachelor’s degree in history at the University of Southern Mississippi. 

A Jimmy Buffett concert was a “License to Chill”; a Celebration of Life on the “Far Side of the World”.

Parrotheads will miss their lifestyle guru.
