Lake County has received the draft of its 2050 Comprehensive Plan from Kimley-Horn, the engineering, planning, and design consultants contracted for the plan in March 2025, marking a major milestone in the County’s long-range planning efforts. This draft plan is a working document and may continue to change as Lake County moves through the final review process and gathers additional public input. 

The updated Comprehensive Plan will serve as Lake County’s guiding vision for shaping policy and decision-making over the next 10 to 25 years. The plan will focus on future land use, conservation, economics, transportation, housing, parks and recreation, public facilities, public safety, capital improvements, intergovernmental coordination, and property rights. 

 

As part of the public engagement process, Lake County will host three community workshops. Residents are encouraged to attend, learn more about the draft plan, and provide feedback. 

 

Workshop dates and locations include: 

“The 2050 Comprehensive Plan will serve as a roadmap for how Lake County manages growth, protects resources, and plans for the needs of future generations,” said Kathleen Dial, Lake County Executive Director, Development Services. “Public input is an essential part of this process because the decisions made today will directly influence the County’s development, infrastructure, conservation efforts, and quality of life for decades to come.”
