Happy New Year, Clermont! As we step into 2026, I’m filled with hope and excitement for what’s ahead. This is a time to look forward with purpose, and I’m especially grateful for the citizens of Clermont who make our city such a united, thoughtful, and vibrant place to call home.

We’re kicking off the year with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade and Ceremony on Monday, January 19. The parade will begin at McKinney Park and travel through downtown to Waterfront Park, where we’ll celebrate with food, vendors, a Kid Zone, and a ceremony honoring Dr. King’s legacy. It’s an important time to reflect on unity, justice, and service to others. Details are available at ClermontFL.gov/MLK.

As we reflect on our past, we’re also planning for the future. This year, we’ll be working with DPZ CoDesign, a nationally respected urban planning firm, on updates to our Comprehensive Plan and Form-Based Code. These plans will help guide how our city grows. This is your chance to participate in shaping Clermont’s future—stay tuned for ways to get involved.

Another way to stay connected is by joining me for Lunch with the Mayor on Tuesday, January 6 at noon at Miller’s Ale House, 1555 S. Grand Hwy, Clermont. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions, share ideas, and enjoy lunch with neighbors. (Each attendee pays for their own meal.) Our February Mayor’s Lunch will be held at The Clermont Fish House, 110 W Hwy 50, also at noon.

On January 9, we recognize National Law Enforcement Day, and I want to take a moment to thank our dedicated officers for their commitment to safety and service. And please save the date for our annual Honoring the Fallen 5K, happening on February 21. This meaningful event raises funds for the families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. You can sign up or donate at HonoringTheFallen5K.com.

In honor of Florida Arbor Day, the City will once again be giving away free trees and saplings on Saturday, January 17 from 8 am to 2 pm, or while supplies last, at the Hiawatha Park pavilion on the lake side. It’s a great way to celebrate nature and support a greener Clermont.

Please note that there will be only one City Council Meeting this month, scheduled for January 13 at 3 p.m.. And now, you can participate online during Council meetings. For more details and to sign in, visit ClermontFL.gov/meetings.

As always, I’m available at City Hall on Monday or Wednesday mornings, or you can reach me by email at tmurry@ClermontFl.org. Your input helps us grow stronger as a community.

Wishing you and your family a joyful, healthy, and united 2026.
