Lake County is partnering with the Town of Montverde to improve the Lake Apoka West Shore Boat Ramp after the Ferndale Preserve project is complete.

Patrons are encouraged to use the McDonald Canal Boat Ramp, located at 24600 County Road 448A, Mount Dora, as an alternative boat ramp and retrieval site for Lake Apopka.

Montverde’s skyline and hospitality landscape is poised for a dramatic transformation.

Lake County officials have approved plans for a $66+ million luxury boutique hotel in the prestigious Bella Collina community, marking one of the most significant hospitality investments in South Lake in recent years. The project, tentatively named The Mansion at Bella Collina, will introduce a new level of upscale accommodations along County Road 455 overlooking scenic Lake Siena.

The development has also been awarded an $825,000 county incentive grant, underscoring the county’s commitment to attracting high-quality tourism and economic growth to the region.

This is not a renovation or expansion — it is a brand-new, purpose-built luxury hotel designed to elevate Montverde’s presence as a destination for travelers, weddings, and executive retreats.

Plans call for:

• 100 guest rooms, including 70 standard rooms and 30 upscale suites

• Luxury executive and presidential suite options

• Full-service restaurant and specialty dining venues

• A resort-style heated pool and landscaped gardens

• A full-service spa and fitness center

• Banquet and event space designed to host 150+ guests

The hotel will sit on approximately four acres within Bella Collina along CR 455, offering lake views and architectural styling consistent with the community’s Tuscan-inspired design.

Construction is expected to begin later this year, with a projected opening in 2028.

Currently, the primary upscale accommodation in Montverde is Siena at Bella Collina, located at 16300 County Road 455 within the gated community.

Siena operates more as a luxury residential-style resort, offering spacious condo-style suites with full kitchens, washer/dryer units, and access to The Club at Bella Collina’s golf, spa, and dining amenities. It caters well to extended stays, golf visitors, and guests seeking privacy in a residential setting.

The new hotel, however, will function as a traditional full-service boutique hotel — meaning:

• Dedicated front-desk and hospitality operations

• On-site restaurant and bar venues open to guests and event attendees

• Purpose-built banquet facilities for weddings and corporate events

• A room inventory structured for short-term stays and destination travel

In short, while Siena offers luxury residential comfort, The Mansion at Bella Collina aims to deliver a true destination hotel experience.

Beyond the architectural elegance and lakefront views, the project represents a major economic boost for South Lake County. The hotel is expected to generate new employment opportunities, increase tourism spending, and expand Montverde’s ability to host large-scale events without sending visitors to neighboring cities for accommodations.
