Three emergency care facilities are located in Lake County:

Orlando Health South Lake Hospital Emergency Room and Medical Pavilion – Blue Cedar in Leesburg -a full-service emergency room with outpatient imaging, laboratory, and rehabilitation, as well as physician offices.

Orlando Health South Lake Hospital Joe H. and Loretta Scott Emergency Room and Medical Pavilion in Four Corners – a full-service emergency room with outpatient imaging, laboratory, and rehabilitation, as well as physician offices.

Orlando Health South Lake Hospital, a 140-bed acute care hospital with a 41-bed emergency department. It has a 30-bed short-term rehabilitation center, outpatient services, and the National Training Center. The team at Orlando Health South Lake Hospital total 1,595; of those, 73% reside in Lake County.

Orlando Health South Lake also has a designated primary stroke center, air care, Pediatrics, Cardiovascular Care, Cancer Center, Surgical Services, Women’s Services, Rehabilitation Center, Home Health, and National Training Center. Orlando Health South Lake Hospital is the only hospital in Lake County to recently earn prestigious ratings and accreditations including Chest Pain Center Accreditation, Home Health 5-Star Rating, SkyTop View Rehabilitation 5-Star Rating, Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, and Robotic’s Surgery Center of Excellence (see additional information).

Medical Use of Marijuana – Eliminated the prohibition against the smoking of medical marijuana; approved by the Governor and took effect on March 18, 2019

Health Care Regulations – Bills related to allowing Ambulatory Surgery Centers to keep patients up to 24 hours and more timely notification to patients regarding hospital stay status and quality reporting.

Repeal Certificate of Need (CON) – General hospitals and hospital services are no longer subject to the CON process and may be issued licenses without a CON. (Certificate of Need programs are aimed at restraining health care facility costs and facilitating coordinated planning of new services and facility construction).
