For nearly twenty years, Sally Guggino has been a compassionate presence in Lake County through her work with Paws Therapy Dogs, Inc. a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that brings the healing power of pets to people in need.

Sally is a well-known volunteer throughout Lake County. Whether in a hospital, nursing home, or with children, she makes it her mission to connect with everyone she meets.

Merlin, Guggino’s third loyal therapy dog, has been her partner in the journey for the last seven years. A rescuer, Merlin understands companionship and resilience, making him a perfect therapy dog.

Guggino shows how much a caring heart and a devoted dog can do for a community. Sally and Merlin are more than a therapy team; they’re a beacon of kindness, loyalty, and joy.

PAWS Therapy Dogs provide compassionate canine community service work by visiting libraries, schools, senior centers and nursing homes. Children, teens and adults can hang out, pet and read a book with these trained therapy pups. Kids’ reading skills can be strengthened and reading confidence increased during this fun literacy time with these wonderful dogs and their handlers. If your child is not reading yet, no worries, they can still have fun.
