The Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra will present their 18^th season finale with two Spring Serendipity Concerts on April 20 & 21 here in Central Florida. These lively April concerts will be presented by talented professional symphony musicians from around the world. Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra brings to Lake County a treasure of talent and culture in the many themed concerts they present.

The FLSO will begin with music by Johann Strauss Jr.’s “Voices of Spring”, followed by singer Aleksandra Vargas with “O Mio Babbino Caro” and “La Vie en Rose”.  In the latter piece, she will be joined by trumpetist John DePaola.  Johann Strauss Jr. will then return with “Die Fledermaus Overture”.  Internationally acclaimed tenor Marco Romano will sing “O Sole Mio” brightening the stage for Strauss’s “Roses from the South”.

The FLSO will start the second half of this performance with “The Moldau” by Smetana before sharing the duet from the Phantom of the Opera, “All I ask of You” sung by Marco Romano and Aleksandra Vargas. Then, they will share the inspiring “E.T. Adventures on Earth” by composer John Williams. The finale will be presented with the Latin American wonder –“Tico Tico”. A complete evening of musical tales of spring flowers, love, dancing and refined fun will be presented by the extraordinary Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra.

Konstantin Dimitrov: Having performed all over the world, Virtuoso Bulgarian violinist Konstantin Dimitrov will anchor the orchestra as he has done since 2006 as a Concert Master and soloist.

Guest Conductor Paul Hostetter holds degrees in concert performance from Florida State University and the Juilliard School of Music. As a much sought-after guest conductor, he was an assistant to James Levine at the Metropolitan Opera. He has conducted many symphonies, opera companies and ballet performances. His soft-spoken musical genius makes him a favorite with the Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra.

Spring Concert Locations: On Thursday, April 20, the Spring Serendipity Concert will be held at The Cross in Mount Dora formerly Lake Receptions located at 4425 County Road 19A, Mount Dora, FL 32757. The Friday, April 21 performance will be held at the Minneola City Hall located at: 800 US-27 North, Minneola, FL 34715. Concerts begin at 7:30 PM. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early for their choice of upfront seating.

The Florida Lakes Symphony Orchestra will present “The Magic of Mendelssohn”, conducted by Carl Topilow of the Cleveland Pops. They will feature world-renown Konstantin Dimitrov performing one of the most beloved violin concertos of all time, the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, followed by many beautiful pieces.

October Program:  The concert will begin with the youthful works of Mendelssohn, who composed “The Hebrides Overture” otherwise known as “Fingal’s Cave at the age of eighteen. The second piece of Mendelssohn that will be performed is his most beloved violin solo work.  The other half of the concert will begin with “The Maple Leaf Rag as well the Intermezzo from the opera “Cavalleria Rustican” as composed by Mascagni. 

New Central Florida Concert Locations: The Thursday, October 27 performance for this season will start at 7:30 PM at the at Living Drama Theatre located in the Eustis Plaza at 431 Plaza Drive, Eustis, FL 32726. The October 28 Friday night concert will also start at 7:30 PM at the Minneola City Hall located at 800 US Highway 27 in Minneola, FL 34715. Come early for your choice of upfront seating.

New 18^th Season: Carl Topilow will return on December 8 & 9 for a wonderful Christmas and Chanukah Concert. On Thursday, January 5, their joyous New Year Concert will be performed at the Cross formerly the Lakes Receptions in Mount Dora. The Friday, January 6 performance will be held at the Minneola City Hall. These two Viennese-style performances will be conducted aby Paul Hostetter. On February 2 & 3, the Florida Lakes Symphony will perform Valentine’s Concerts with romantic themes and surprise guests. On March 9 & 10, Carl Topilow will be back to share an inspiring Irish program. The season will conclude on April 20 & 21 with a Spring Pops program.

Aaron Collins: Aaron Collins will be their special conductor for this concert. Collins is the founder, director and conductor of the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra of Cocoa, Florida now celebrating their 10^th season. He shares his wonderful creativity, spirit, musical beauty and quest for knowledge through that has gained national attention. Collins, a prolific composer, has also written music for the stage and screen.

Soloist Performance: Marco Romano will be a guest soloist for this holiday concert. Romano has both baritone and tenor vocal strengths with three-octave extensions in full voice. He has performed in numerous Broadway play performances as well as for his own one-man Marco Romano show on numerous cruise ships. Romano has studied with internationally famous mentors and coaches including singing and jazz techniques with Carlo Lomanto, Shawna Ferrell, Franco Mescolini, Alessandra Frabetti, Nathan Martin and William Matteuzzi.

The special February 13 & 14 Valentine Concerts will showcase Vienna Woods, Springtime & Strauss, Tales of the Vienna Woods, and The Beautiful Blue Danube Waltz. On March 19 & 20, they will offer a wonderful Fire & Ice Concert with Southern music — Fire Dance, Capriccio Espagnole, O Mo Babbino Caro, Carmen and Northern Tschaikowsky Piano Concerto 1 with piano soloist Sten Heinoia. Spring will commence on April 23 & 24 with a Cherry Blossoms Concert featuring A Japanese Teahouse, Madame Butterfly, Lower Song and many more Oriental favorites with guest conductor Shungo Moriyama visiting us from Osaka, Japan.
