However, even before opening its doors, The Local at Legends is making a significant impact on the local community. On Monday, October 28, Michele and Pedro Lopez and Wheelchairs 4 Kids will present two children, Andrew Aoun, age 14 of Mount Dora, and Aiden Santos, age 6 of St. Cloud, with custom-made wheelchairs at the restaurant, which is situated on the Legends Golf Course property.

Michele and Pedro Lopez have a personal connection to Wheelchairs 4 Kids, as their son, Maxum Lopez, was a past recipient of a custom wheelchair through the organization. Because of the continuous support of the Lopez family, Wheelchairs 4 Kids has been able to provide Andrew and Aiden with chairs tailored to their specific needs.

Andrew, who has muscular dystrophy and is unable to walk without assistance, will receive an AirHawk, the lightest power chair on the market. Weighing only 41 pounds, this innovative wheelchair will be easy to transport and will provide Andrew with the mobility and support he requires.

Aiden, who has PTEN hamartoma syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that increases his risk of developing cancerous tumors and causes muscle weakness, will receive a Leggero Reach. This lightweight push wheelchair features a fixed tilt seat and hip angle adjustment to accommodate Aiden’s needs, while also being portable and foldable for convenience.

The presentation of these life-changing chairs will be a heartwarming moment for the children and their families, as well as for the staff of Wheelchairs 4 Kids and the Lopez family. Following the presentation, the children will enjoy a celebratory dinner on the property and engage in fun activities with other wheelchair recipients.

“While we serve our local community, we also believe in giving back,” said Michele Lopez. “Our favorite charity is Wheelchairs 4 Kids. This organization has given so much, not only to our family personally but to the disabled community at large. We are so proud to be a part of their family.”  Michele said she wants to find more children in the community needing the help of “Wheelchairs 4 Kids”

Michele also announced plans for a Poker Tournament at Legends on November 9, with all proceeds benefiting Wheelchairs 4 Kids, further solidifying the restaurant’s commitment to giving back to the community.

As The Local at Legends prepares for its grand opening, the new owners are already creating a lasting legacy of community service and generosity.
