That’s the premise behind The Nearly Forgotten Incident, a suspenseful narrative short set in the 1960s, where a small town plagued by mysterious disappearances and strange events becomes the center of a chilling conspiracy. A group of kids, a determined young woman, and a whistle-blower find themselves entangled with a seemingly innocent candy company, Yummy—a front hiding weaponized sweets and dangerous secrets.

Part of the film will be shot in downtown Clermont from February 16–20, 2026, with overnight filming from 10 pm to 6 am Production will take place on and around Montrose Street between 7th and 8th streets, on 8th Street up to West Osceola, and West Minneola Avenue.

To authentically capture the era, the scenes will feature period-appropriate vehicles, atmospheric fog effects, simulated gunfire using blank-firing weapons under professional supervision, and controlled stunt driving—all under the guidance of a licensed armorer and stunt coordinator.

Safety is our top priority,”  said Kyle Marra, production manager, for Root and Branch films.  “We’re working closely with local authorities to ensure a secure and respectful filming process.”

For safety and authenticity, temporary street closures are planned in the immediate filming area. The crew will take steps to minimize noise, lighting, and traffic disruptions, and parking will be relocated after equipment is unloaded to prevent congestion.

Filming will also take place in Brooksville as part of the project.
