The United States Army Field Band and Soldier’s Chorus performed on Sunday afternoon at the South Lake High School Auditorium in Groveland.  A large crowd turned out to hear the band and chorus play a wide range of patriotic and popular songs.  The theme of the show is “thank you” to our veterans of all services and wars and Americans for supporting them.  It was a stirring salute to the Americans and music that keep us united.

The band saluted present members of the armed forces and their families and friends.  They are highlighting the career of American Leonard Bernstein on this year of the 100th anniversary of his birth.  The band is traveling soon to Norway sharing some well-known music from Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg.

A highlight of the show was when 11 local student musicians listed below from South Lake High School joined the band and chorus for America The Beautiful.

  • Kate Woolwine, 12th, Flute
  • Jacob Broomell, 10th, Clarinet
  • Antonio Vergara, 11th, Alto Saxophone
