Three Montverde Academy students enjoyed the amazing opportunity of performing with Yo Yo Ma, the world’s most celebrated cellists, and Colin Jacobsen, violinist and composer.

Montverde Academy was invited by The Orlando Philharmonic to send three representatives from our MVA String orchestra program – two violinists and one violist. Dr. Jeannine Mongeon and Mr. Hanrich Claassen, MVA Music Conservatory instrumental music teachers, selected Music Conservatory student violinists, Mariana Valderrama Alvarez, a freshman, and Arielle Hernandez, a sophomore, along with violist Allison Fitzgerald, a junior, for the tremendous honor of performing with Yo Yo Ma, Colin Jacobsen and Maestro Eric Jacobsen with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra.  The students were required to prepare and memorize and perform Brahms’ Double. The ladies participated in three rehearsals held over the last few months to prepare for the performance which took place on Tuesday, May 8 at the Bob Carr Theater in Orlando.
