The Lake County Board of Commissioners recognized Montverde Academy’s Varsity Boys’ Basketball team with an official Proclamation, presented by Sean Parks, Lake County Commission, District 2, for their outstanding season. Earlier this year, the Eagles team won the 2018 GEICO National Championship in New York City, finishing their season undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the country by USA Today.

“It was an honor to welcome back the High School Boys Basketball National Champions and publicly highlight the team’s success on and off the court,” said Commissioner Parks. “They are a fine group of young men who are led by an awesome coach in Coach Boyle. We are proud of Montverde Academy and their great accomplishments in the classroom and in athletics. They represent Lake County well and we’re happy they’re a part of our community!”

“This varsity team worked incredibly hard to achieve an undefeated season and win the GEICO National Championship title,” said Dr. Kasey C. Kesselring, Headmaster, Montverde Academy. “We are honored to accept the Proclamation from the Board of Commissioners and proud to represent Lake County.”
