Meet Julie

Submitted by Tammy Leger of Houndhaven

Houndhaven, Inc. rescues dogs and puppies from euthanasia at kill shelters. We care for them until they can be placed in loving homes or with another rescue group. We believe that these lives are precious, and we are strictly a no-kill organization. Our mission is life.

If you’d like to give back to the community, Houndhaven is looking for volunteers to help at our shelter and community events.  Volunteers must be 18 years or older, and have the ability to handle large dogs.

The shelter team walks and feeds the dogs, cleans kennels, pick-ups in play yards, washes dishes, does laundry and provides excellent care for our dogs.  Time spent at the shelter is rewarding, fun and great exercise.  There are never more than 20 dogs at the shelter, so they all feel comfortable and loved until they find their forever home.

Adoption event volunteers are responsible for walking the dogs, making sure they show well and answering questions about Houndhaven and our adoption process.  There are always experienced volunteers at each event to assist with questions.

If you’re looking for a furry family member to add to your home, please come to one of our adoption events.  Saturdays we host events at Petco in Clermont or PetsMart in Winter Garden from 12:15 pm – 3:00 pm.

You can interact with the dogs and complete an application for adoption.  Check our event calendar on our website or Facebook for details on these and other events. visit:
