The Clermont Waterfront parkrun kicked off August with bang. This weekend’s run along Lake Minneola handily surpassed last week’s numbers, which had set record totals! A remarkable 227 people participated, replacing the old record of 214. Multiple high school teams and club teams also showed up. There were 89 first timers and 38 new Personal Bests, along with representatives from 33 different clubs. Thanks to all of the volunteers, organizers, and participants who have made the Clermont waterfront parkrun possible and who have helped it draw out a large community of runners, walkers, and joggers since its start a little under 5 years ago!
There were lots of quick times by the men this weekend. First timer Ron with the club “Space Cadets” finished first by over a minute in 16:07. Jeremy Arguelles finished second with a 17:08, and first-timer Joenathan Stallings (also from the Space Cadets) rounded off the podium with a 17:24.
The Space Cadets had some ‘out-of-this-world’ results on the female side, with their high school athletes taking over the whole podium. Becky came in first with an impressive time of 19:33. Second and third place was Lisa Adjouadi and Havana Perez. They ran 19:57 and 20:12, respectively.
Congratulations to Paul Young, who ran his 200th parkun! And to Carl Gayle, who hit 50.
All of the participants this weekend did amazing, congratulations to all the runners and walkers! We hope to see everyone again next weekend.
The Clermont Waterfront Parkrun takes place every Saturday morning at 7:30 am. It starts at Lake Hiawatha Preserve, 450 12th St, Clermont, FL 34711. This is a FREE event open to people of all levels. Please come out to join us!
