Lake Sumter State College is hosting an independent TEDx event on February 15.  The event will feature local speakers from the college and our local communities.  The theme for this event is “Transformation”.

TED is an annual event that brings together the world’s leading thinkers and doers to share ideas that matter in any discipline: technology, entertainment, design, science, humanities, business, development.  The talks at the conference, called TED Talks, are then made available to watch for free on TED.com

In the spirit of “ideas worth spreading, “TED has created TEDx, a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.  At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connections. The TEDx event is not organized by TED Conferences but is operated under a license from TED.

Lake-Sumter State College is excited to have the opportunity to host a TEDx event at the Leesburg Campus. These presentations are aligned with TED’s mission, “To share the unique innovation and ideas that their community is creating. “At TEDxLSSC, students, staff, and community members will have the opportunity to participate in this high-profile event dedicated to developing innovative thinkers and change makers, said Stan Sidor, ED. D, President, Lake-Sumter State College.

In order to make this event possible, Lake-Sumter State College needs the help from individuals and businesses. The TEDx event needs supporters who are committed to serving and inspiring innovation and ideas.
