Thom Battisto, Sydney and Toby from the local not for profit Read to Sydney and Eagle Scout Elijah Kelly were featured in a recent edition of “Woman’s World Magazine”.

The dynamic duo, Elijah and Toby, joined forces last year as Elijah chose the Read to Sydney Organization as his Eagle Scout beneficiary.

Because of Elijah’s dedication and hard work, not only was Elijah chosen as a Spectrums everyday hero, he also received the viewer’s choice award for Spectrum Channel news 13.

Elijah was awarded the 2017 national Eagle Scout outstanding project for the Apopka Shores district and the James West Fellow award along with Colonel Joseph Kittinger Endowment Fund Certificate of Recognition for his service to the community through his outstanding Eagle Scout service project in 2017. Elijah recently was recognized by the South Lake Chamber of Commerce for his philanthropic efforts in the South Lake Community.

Thom, Sydney and Toby have been helping our local children learn to read for the past 7 years. Read to Sydney visits local schools and libraries, donates books to local schools and has their very own Reading and Learning Center. Both Thom and Sydney are former ambassadors for the South Lake Chamber of Commerce and currently serve the South Lake and West Orange Communities through their reading and literacy programs.

These local heroes were featured in the August 9 thru 16 issue of Woman’s World Magazine. Not only are these local hero’s helping children in our community, but they will become heroes to the three million readers of the magazine!
