The Montverde Academy Theatre Department proudly presents the first theatrical performance of the season titled, “She Loves Me,” based on Joe Masteroff’s book, with lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and music by Jerry Bock. The contemporary film, “You’ve Got Mail,” was inspired by the musical. The show will run from September 26-30.

This 1930s era romantic comedy features shop clerks Amalia, played by Maya Mills, and Georg, played by Anthony Morehead, working together in a Hungarian perfumery. They are by no means friends – he thinks she’s stuck up, and she thinks he’s arrogant and mean. The story could end there, but as each writes to a lonely hearts pen pal when work is done, it doesn’t take long to see that they’re in love without realizing it.

Montverde Academy theatrical presentations feature award-winning student performers who bring the characters to life on spectacular sets with impressive costumes to captivate audiences. This production is directed by Roberta Emerson, choreographed by Rebecca Montgomery and music direction led by Dean Bell.
