The Friends of the Cooper Memorial Library will host Opera @ the Library on Monday, October 15, at 1:45 pm in room 108 B, presenting Gaetano Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor. Lucia di Lammermoor is a dramma tragico (tragic opera) in three acts by Gaetano Donizetti. Salvadore Cammarano wrote the Italian-language libretto loosely based upon Sir Walter Scott’s historical novel The Bride of Lammermoor. The story concerns the emotionally fragile Lucy Ashton (Lucia) who is caught in a feud between her own family and that of the Ravenswoods. The setting is the Lammermuir Hills of Scotland (Lammermoor) in the 17th century.

This is a free program with English subtitles and we hope to enhance your knowledge and appreciation of this beautiful art form. Light refreshments will be provided during the intermission for our guests.
