The City of Clermont’s Stitch & Chat group made and donated 119 hats and a sweater to comfort premature newborn babies at South Lake Hospital.

The group meets from 10 am to noon on Fridays at the Clermont Performing Arts Center to knit, crochet, cross stitch and socialize. Participants bring their own materials. They also have made baby blankets for the hospital.

Stitch & Chat is part of the city’s Champions for a Lifetime programs and activities for active adults 55 and up. Social activities, fitness classes, games, discussion groups, guest lectures, field trip and more are offered.

There is no membership fee and it is open to both residents and non-residents of the City of Clermont. Activities take place at the Clermont Arts and Recreation Center, 3700 S. U.S. Highway 27, and are free unless noted. More information can be found at www.ClermontFL.gov under “Residents,” then “Senior Programs” or at 352-394-3500 or sramdass@clermontfl.org.
