The Lions Club met for its regular February meeting (second Thursdays) at St. Matthias Episcopal Church on Valentines Day and welcomed Clermont Police Officer David Colon to give an address on the Department’s efforts in working with community organizations such as churches, civic clubs youth organizations.  Officer Colon pointed out that the city’s force of 80 has dedicated considerable resources in working with such important elements of our community.  Officer Colon was the Club’s go-to officer in the collection of TOYS FOR TRUNKS. Colon expressed his appreciated for the Lions in all they do for the community.

The Lions got a big boost in having Lion Jeanne Von Von Dohre and her husband, transferring from the Ocala Lions Club to Clermont. Lion Jeanne is a certified blood screener and will begin the process of reviving the Club’s diabetes blood screening program.  Considering the impact on vision by severe diabetes, this program by Lions serves a great need in the community.

The Lions enjoyed a great day at their shooting range, across from Tractor Supply in Groveland on SR 50.
The range operates on the second, third and fourth Saturdays, 8 am – noon.  Handguns up to 45 cal., 22 cal. rifle and shotgun skeet are offered.
