This class discusses art historical topics through the lens of today’s social media and pop culture trends.  Have selfies replaced Self-Portraits?  Are food pictures modern day Still Lifes?  What on earth is a meme?!  This class takes a humorous and contemporary approach to art history and connects the past with the present.  We will discuss how art historical themes have been “trending” for hundreds of years and are simply manifesting themselves in a new way through modern advertising, television, film and pop culture.  No prior art historical background necessary and no social media experience required.  This is art history in the 21st century!
