Montverde Academy brings Broadway favorites to the stage in a new and enjoyable way during the Fourth Annual Choral Cabaret. Talented students will delight the audience in this unique, interactive performance that will take place on stage in the Sandra Stephens Theatre on April 1–3 at 7:00 pm.

The theme for the 2019 Choral Cabaret is Broadway: Before and After.” For this unique show, the audience sits at café tables on stage enjoying desserts and beverages while students perform around the guests, theatre in the round style. The music is all Broadway, ranging from very early shows like “Show Boat” to modern spectacles including “Hamilton.”

Act One “Before” delivers authentic renditions of songs from “Phantom of the Opera,” “Hairspray,” “Guys and Dolls,” “Les Miserables,” “Annie,” and more. Act Two “After,” takes the same shows and lovingly twists them into hilarious parodies, similar to the off-Broadway sensation, “Forbidden Broadway.” For example audiences will hear three famous Disney show tunes, transformed in good-natured parodies, from “Part of Your World,” to “The Belittled Mermaid;” “Beauty and the Beast,” to “Beauty’s Been Decreased;” and finally, “Be Our Guest,” becomes “Be Depressed.”

Tickets are $15.00 and can be purchased by emailing Aubrey.Connelly@Montverde.org. Seating is assigned and this show always sells out early.
