The Clermont Police Department is promoting the campaign used by many law enforcement agencies across the country known as the “9 pm. Routine”. The 9 pm Routine is aimed at asking residents and visitors to adopt a “routine” each evening. This routine involves removing valuables from vehicles, ensuring vehicle doors and trunks are locked, locking home doors and gates, and turning on exterior lights. This is all in an effort to prevent criminal activity.
The 9 pm Routine also allows the community to directly take part in crime prevention by creating a safer and more secure environment. By following this procedure, residents raise awareness of the crime trends and make the commission of a crime more difficult. This initiative is also being promoted on the Clermont Police Department’s social media outlets using #9pmRoutine.
