U-Pick Self-Guided Tour of Lake County Farms
April 13th, starting at 9 am, Lake County Extension Office, 1951 Woodlea Rd., Tavares
Participants will receive a list of U-Pick Farms currently open for fruit picking that can be used as a guide for a self-guided tour of Lake County Farms. Additionally, participants will receive a listing of U-Pick farms in the area with crops that are not currently ready to pick for future planning purposes. This event is free and no pre-registration is required.
Landscape and Garden Fair
April 13th 9am-4pm and April 14th 10am-3pm, Lake County Extension Office, 1951 Woodlea Rd., Tavares
The 8th Annual Landscape and Garden Fair provides visitors the opportunity to shop for lawn and garden goods, listen to garden themed presentations, and participate in children’s activities. Highlights of the festival include a butterfly release, the children’s passport program and over twenty botanical vendors. Right-of-way Pesticide Applicator License Review and Exam
April 16th, 8:30am-4pm, Lake County Extension Office, 1951 Woodlea Rd., Tavares
The Right of Way (ROW) Pesticide Applicator License is used by those applying herbicides to the edges of roads and rights of way. This class will review the material on the test and administer the exam. If you also need Core, that review and exam will follow the ROW. Participants will learn the three basics of financial literacy: budgeting, saving and credit. Enhance your money management skills and avoid financial pitfalls. Spring cleaning is the perfect time to freshen up and declutter your home. Participants will learn what papers to keep and toss, how to become organized, and how to clear the clutter. 4-H Youth Art Showcase
April 26th 4-7pm and April 27th 12-5pm, Lake County Extension Office, 1951 Woodlea Rd., Tavares
The 1st Annual 4-H Youth Art Exhibit and Community Service Showcase will raise funds toward supporting 4-H youth members participation in 4-H sponsored events. This event will showcase Lake County 4-H youth art as well as club community service projects. There will be items for a Chance-to-win and Silent Auction items to bid on to include zoo tickets, local gift certificates, and a two-night stay in Cocoa Beach, FL. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome to come out and support our youth!
Stone Fruit Field Day
