South Lake Trail will close to all traffic between Greater Hills Boulevard and Old Highway 50 from April 8 to April 19 for improvements and resurfacing. Trail users should avoid this section during construction and consider using an alternative route or a different section of the trail.

The improvements to this portion of the trail will include, concrete curbing, erosion control and new asphalt, in an effort to prevent washouts and damage that would occur from heavy rains. The improvements are the first phase of several improvements along the trail to be completed over the next year, with the goal of enhancing the experience for trail users while reducing the need for future repairs after storms.

The South Lake Trail continues to attract nearly 10,000 users a month and remains a major destination for residents and visitors. The trail is part of the larger Coast to Coast Trail System that will eventually connect Titusville to St. Petersburg, and will soon create a 40-mile loop around Lake Apopka.
