The Groveland Historical Society held a Founders Day Expo at the Puryear Building last Saturday. The expo contained a wealth of historic knowledge in the form of photographs and memorabilia from the city’s past.

Groveland Police Chief T.R. “Tommy” Merrill recognized in 2009 for 40 years of service.

Retired Groveland Police Chief T.R. “Tommy” Merrill was among those at the Expo offering attendees a glimpse of Groveland’s past.  Merrill is a life-long Lake County native, a U.S. Air Force veteran and served the citizens of Groveland as their police chief for over 40 years and is one of the longest-serving police chiefs in the United States.
