Clermont Middle School will present STEM Family Night on Thursday, April 11, from 6 to 8 pm at the school.

Students will have opportunities to participate in several “make and takes,” including making a harmonica, creating a mini-density tower and making a bee out of egg cartons to explore the importance of pollination.

Additionally, they can hear a presentation on the local tortoise population, featuring a live tortoise; practice making and breaking computer codes; experiment with straw rockets and “foaming snow;” take snapshots with science props in the photo booth, and shop at the book fair.

“The goal of the event is to bring families to our campus to have fun with science,’’ said Amy Herman, a seventh- and eighth-grade science teacher who leads the science department at the school. “We are inviting the surrounding 5th graders to come explore as well. We want them to get excited about science and interested in STEM careers.”
