Three high schools, multiple Middle Schools, and many Elementary Schools of South Lake County have banded together again for our annual Kindness Palooza Charity event. This year Kindness Palooza’s theme will be the Jedi Warrior Challenge. This is a free event with a donation to one of our three supported charities. It will take place on May the 4th, from 9 am to 2 pm in the field right next to the SkyZone Trampoline Park, 2510 S Highway 27, Clermont.
The purpose of this year’s Kindness Palooza is to raise money for three local charities: Dreamplex, Project Kid Connect, and The Clermont Community Champions Foundation. Dreamplex is an organization dedicated to serving children with special needs in their athletic endeavors. Project Kid Connect, hosted by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, focuses on providing the less fortunate students in our community with school supplies and other necessities. The Clermont Community Champions Foundation, run by the Clermont Police Department, uses their influence to aid underprivileged kids with registering for after-school programs that function as rehabilitation for troubled teens. By attending this field day event you will contribute greatly to the local charity of your choice!
“All it takes is one small act of kindness to create a ripple, and that one ripple creates waves in a movement.” – Emily Curatolo
“Kindness Palooza is the epitome of what happens when one act of kindness becomes minutes, then moments, then a movement.” – Emily Curatolo
This will be an event full of fun, food, and friends that will be an amazing experience for the whole family as well. There will be many activities available like inflatable obstacle courses, slides, a hula hoop, and Easter egg relay, inflatable sports games, and ring toss. Along with these well-known games, there are some unique activities that you can participate in such as the 4 legged race, scooter-plunger races, a noodle horse race, and buried treasure hunt. With these activities, we have many events for you to watch like, the singing of the National Anthem by Commissioner Spano and the Empire and Rebel Parade. Also, you can witness multiple demonstrations like the Yoga and Taekwondo demonstrations, in which you can gain new knowledge.
At the end of the event, there will be a final challenge where three representatives from each of the three charities will have a Jedi Warrior competition within SkyZone. This gives them the opportunity to win a ‘jackpot’ of proceeds for their charity, additional to the money earned from entrance donations.
“I am excited to see the Jedi Warrior Competition, I can only imagine how competitive everyone will be with such a huge reward.” – Jacqueline Ohlrich
Along with these entertaining events and activities, it is encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to relax while viewing the event; though animals such as dogs and coolers are not allowed at Kindness Palooza. However, themed costumes are highly encouraged or colors associated with your organization (Orange for Dreamplex, Green for Sheriff’s Dept., and Blue for the Police Dept.) for the festivities that will occur on May the 4th.
While Kindness Palooza started in 2018 through East Ridge High School’s National Honor Society as a way to encourage kindness throughout hard times; we would like to continue this tradition this year. So come and see the community youth unite for a community cause with Kindness Palooza Jedi Warrior Challenge!
May the 4th be with you!
