Betty Meadows

Betty Marilyn Meadows, age 87, of Clermont, Florida passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. She was born in Lenox, Georgia on December 5, 1931 to Frank and Estelle Cooper. Betty married James “Bud” Meadows, her high school sweetheart and they moved to Clermont in 1968. Bud preceded her in death in 2016

Betty’s passing is sad and yet blessed.  She is now with her son David Meadows and her beloved husband Bud.

She is survived by daughters Sheri Meadows, Debbie Stillman, and son-in-law Jim Stillman, of Clermont, Florida. Grandchildren Scott Hamman of Palm Bay, Florida; Rashelle Pettway of Lake Alfred, Florida; and Rebecca Irvin of Clermont, Florida; great-grandchildren Wyatt Irvan of Clermont, Florida; and McKenzie Pettway of Lake Alfred, Florida.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at Becker Funeral Home in Clermont on Wednesday, May 8 at 2 pm.

Betty’s passing marks a milestone for Beta Theta, a local philanthropic organization and chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha.  Betty is the first of its co-founders to pass and her presence will be greatly missed. Her work for Beta Theta was tireless, as was her support to its state project, the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, which was near and dear to her heart.
