2019 Dragon Boat Races
The 6th annual Clermont Waterfront Festival was held on Saturday, May 18th. Ten and twenty paddler teams from across the state competed in 40 ft.-long dragon boats on Lake Minneola. Each team raced three times on a 380-meter course.

 

In the community division, the New Beginnings 10-paddler crew won gold medals with a time of 2:19:02

The Clermont Highlander Dragons came in first (2:00:35) in the club mixed 10-paddler division.

There were three Breast Cancer Survivor (BCS) teams. The Broward Fierce Fighters won their division in a time of 2:32:13.

Teams competing in the 20-paddler mixed division battled for the overall championship. Wun Fun Cru from Mount Dora beat Orlando’s SCORCH and the JC Highlanders to take the title in a time of 1:47:32.

The festival is a major fundraiser for the New Beginnings charity.
