Downtown Clermont

The 10-minute walk that was first suggested as the norm for reaching the Downtown Clermont destination may have decreased a bit when an agreement with the First United Methodist Church was discussed at the July 9th Clermont City Council meeting.

First United Methodist Church of Clermont owns roughly 3.44-acres of vacant property located along 7th & W Desoto St. The church has agreed to lease the semi-paved grass parking and the paved parking to the City for the purposes of unstructured parking for the amount of $1,490 a month with some additional initial improvements to be made by the City.

The property is centrally located within the downtown area and provides access to the central downtown area. The property will allow an additional 169 parking spaces to be used by the public after 5 pm and until 7 am on Monday through Friday and after 1 pm and until 7 am on Saturday and Sunday.

The city of Clermont has agreed to trim trees on the property, upgrade light heads to LED lights, install two permanent garbage cans, install a maximum of 22 parking barriers posts on sloped areas and install signage to reflect the hours that the property may be used. It has also agreed to reimburse the church for the cost of resurfacing and restriping the property.

Additional parking has also been secured on the property next to Suncreek Brewery.
