More than 50 years ago the “Clermont Chamber of Commerce,” came up with an idea to kick off the school year by hosting a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast. The number of teachers numbered less than 100. Since then, the event has grown in number to include more than 1,600 south Lake teachers and administrators.

On Monday, August 5th and Tuesday, August 6th, the festive gathering was held at the Wesley Center at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Clermont and hosted by The South Lake Chamber of Commerce and Pig on the Pond.

Big Prizes: During the event, four lucky schools received $1,500 scholarships provided by Mark and Cathy Graff of Sylvan Learning Center. Three schools received $2,000 grants awarded by Pig on the Pond Scholarships.

Goody bags were given to each teacher and door prize winners were announced.
