This week at the Clermont Waterfront parkrun, we had an impressive total of 223 participants. Everyone from runners to walkers to joggers made their way along the beautiful 3.1-mile course through Hiawatha Park. This weekend we had a few members from the new Lake Sumter State College XC team as well as other local high school and middle school athletes. As cross country races quickly approach, this could be the last time you see these speedy youngsters. Don’t forget to thank the volunteers who dedicated their weekend to helping parkrun put on this even. There were 87 first-timers and new Personal Bests. Representatives of 32 different clubs took part.

Junior Adolfo Saucedo Flores ran to a blazing fast time on the off-road course with a 17:55. The soft sand and sharp turns make this course very slow, but Flores managed to punch out a sub 18 result! Jeremy Arguelles was not far behind in second with an 18:01. Rounding out a competitive race was Alexander Croy coming in at 18:28.

Topping the female podium this weekend was Reagan Parks in 21:27. Sophia Wilson and Mackenzie Hill came in second and third with times of 22:01 and 22:51.

The event was made possible by 14 volunteers:

Laura STABLES • Terry FRENCH • Janice BADER • Kendyl CARDWELL • Toni RICHARDSON • Jim PICKERING • Daniel WHITEHOUSE • Cadence WHITEHOUSE • Ben STABLES • Anne BENINGHOF • Sandra FLORA • Antonio BARTOLOME • Sharon JOHNSON • Heike NEUMANN
