Do you have a Dog? Wish You Had A Dog? Considered Getting A Dog? Or Just Like Being Around Dogs?  Today could be the day that your life might change forever. Today is National Dog Day.

National Dog Day’s goal is to raise awareness of dogs and especially the dogs that need to be rescued.

Adopt A Dog or Help Those Who Have Dogs: A great way to show support of “man’s best friend” is to adopt a dog who has fallen upon hard times.

If you can’t adopt a dog, you can still go to a shelter and volunteer your time walking playing, feeding and cleaning the dogs.

If you have a sick friend or someone who needs to spend a lot of time away from home, offer to check on their pet(s). Take them for a walk and some needed exercise.

If You Have A Dog

Take your dog to the dog park for a play day.  The cities of Clermont, Minneola and Groveland offer great dog parks. (see city’s websites for locations).

Take your dog to the Pet Store to pick a treat, a new collar, or toy.

Give your dog a bath or day at the doggie spa.

Most importantly,  give your dog some undivided attention.

The National Dog Day organization recommends that if you are buying from a breeder, do some research on their background and stay away from pet stores that get their dogs from puppy mills.  Instead, adopt from a shelter or rescue organization. It has been confirmed, an adopted dog will show his/her love, appreciation and devotion for life.

Let’s make National Dog Day an everyday event!

The Animal League, Hounds Haven, Ruff Times Rescue, PolkaDogz are a few of the dog adoption facilities in the area needing help, donations and having dogs looking for the perfect best friend and forever home.
